The thing about compilations is that they kind of serve as nothing more than an appetizer for each band. If you dig the song on the album, the hope is that you’ll go out and buy the band’s full length. The first disc of this CD compilation is a collection of who’s hot in hard rock right now featuring the likes of Godsmack, Sevendust, Cold, Hatebreed, Slayer and Static-X. The second disc of this compilation is a who’s who of the underground featuring Cradle of Filth, Soilwork and In Flames.

The standout tracks were Hatebreed “This Is Now”, Sevendust “Separate”, Demon Hunter “Infected”, Devil Driver “I Could Care Less” which is cool cause the past track I heard by these guys blew, Anthrax “Safe Home”, 36 Crazy Fists “At the End of August” and Lamb of God’s “Ruin”. Some of the songs here are pretty standard for hard music fans including some of the “underground” artists.

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock you’ve heard quite a bit of this material already. In the end, I dig the fact that Roadrunner tried to put something like this together.  It’s a cheap way for fans to get some cool music and at the same time expose the more mainstream kids to what lies in the underground.
