DJ Clue
“The Professional 2”
(Roc-A-Fella)

Mixtape king DJ Clue returns with a new compilation album, and he’s got a gang of superstars with him. “The Professional 2” features just about anybody who’s anybody. Metbod Man, Eminem, and Royce the 5-9 shine on “What the Beat”, the album’s choicest cut, but Raekwon and Ghostface Killah are right behind with “Cream Team 2001” which finds Ghost rapping about a visit to Marvin Gaye’ grave (trust me, it’s a trip). DMX growls his way through “Who’s Next” straight ripping the track to shreds. The Jay-Z freestyle is nice as well, as S. Carter lets everyone know just who runs the rap game. Not to be outdone, on “Live From the Bridge” Nas brags that he’ll “make Hillary leave Bill as quick as lightning” and flows like a fire hydrant over the reverberating guitar lick that Clue and his sidekick Duro set down. Big names like Capone & Noreaga, Redman, Mobb Deep, and Kurupt also make solid appearances. This is not to say that the album has no throwaway songs. Clue would have been better off dropping “My N****z Dem” featuring Trick Daddy and Trina (check this rhyme from Trina- “You gots no bucks? / You gets no fuck”), and “Chinatown” with Lil’ Kim, Lil’ Cease, and Junior Mafia. A few bad tracks (and Clue’s annoying yelling) aside, “The Professional 2” is a tight album.
