Review: Cerebral Noize

Cerebral Noize
“Process”
(Mental Music)

This is a little difficult to classify, but it does seem to be very punk rock influenced, but there’s a damn surreal element with keyboards and backing choral voices and rather industrial breaks.  The album is produced an awful lot like a lower-fi heavy metal album, but like a high end punk rock album, conveniently bringing the sometimes disparate elements of punk and metal into a solid fusion through the listener’s familiarity with the production styles of these two sub-genres of rock and roll.  Cerbral Noize is the brain child (no pun intended, truthfully) of Cale Burr who wrote the music, lyrics, sings and plays guitars, keyboards and other assorted odd and ends.  Several guest musicians are involved in the project that was recorded piecemeal over a five-year period from 1997 to 2002.  The result is a damn impressive one-man show that highly recommend be checked out by people who like music and feel they lean a touch towards the techie geeky direction.  You won’t be let down.  Not too hard anyway.
