Review: August Premier

August Premier
“Fireworks and Alcohol”
(Fueled By Ramen)

Alright, by now I’m sure you are all well aware that Fueled By Ramen is releasing some of the best independent punk rock of our time and they don’t show any sign of slowing down.  The latest addition to the FBR family is the fantastically melodic August Premier who definitely have elements of some of the greats in this genre like Lagwagon, Osker, and early Unwritten Law.

The up-tempo and never trudging sound this band has is quite possibly what makes them so appealing.  I definitely think “Fall” and “Tuckered Out” show melodic punk still belongs at the forefront of musical circles.  You’re kidding yourself if you don’t think this type of sound is not a significant root of what’s in your CD player right now.  Look for this one to be the summer 2003 classic you’ll never hear, but probably should.
