Review: Add N to (X)

Add N to (X)
“Loud like Nature”
(Mute)

Full of sexual energy courtesy of siren Ann Shenton, this British band delivers potent heavy electronic pop that lacks the muscular ostentation of industrial music. Instead, the music of Add N to (X) boasts slinky, post-New Wave rhythms with a classic vintage feel arising from the Moogs ands more. Too hip to be merely retro, “Loud Like Nature” is hard club music with style. Adding variety is contributions from guitarist Richard Hawley (Pulp) on “Sheez Mine” and drummer Rowan Oliver (Goldfrapp). Legendary producer Kim Fowley (The Runaways) is on hand to make a creepy spoken word contribution on “Invasion of the Polaroid People”.
