Deadmau5 (AKA Joel Zimmerman) has launched a fundraising initiative in support of his Urban Fitness 911 in partnership with CrowdRise, the largest crowd funding platform for good. Fans who donate or fundraise here  will be entered to win a VIP trip to Firefly Music Festival to watch deadmau5 perform from side stage.

He originally spoke with King Drew Magnet Golden Eagle School in Compton to Urban Fitness 911, a Los Angeles non-profit organization that was created to address the disparity of academic skills, health and fitness among teenagers and young adults in low income communities.

“I wanted to do something that would bring awareness to these kids and the struggles that they go through on a daily basis.”

Veronica Everett-Boyce founded Urban Fitness 911 three years ago because she believes that no one’s situation is alike, and every person deserves a chance to be successful. “We’re thrilled to collaborate with deadmau5 on this campaign,” says Veronica Everett-Boyce, founder of Urban Fitness 911. “He shined a lot of light on the Urban Fitness 911 students during their meet & greet. The students were very touched, inspired and will never forget the experience.”
