Aside from having a badass name, he is an amazing artist from Poland who uses digital media in a way that transcends the medium.
Digital art has often struggled to legitimize itself among the more traditional disciplines that comprise what is considered worldly and valuable art.
But as the medium and technology has expanded, so has to the approaches, styles, and works of artists who were born into this digital age and do not see their medium as a departure from traditional art, rather, an obvious extension and evolution of art itself.
Art has traditionally been a direct reflection of the societies and times from which it is born. Then it should be fitting that today’s Rembrandt’s and Picasso’s embrace. utilize, and in their own ways, interpret and capture the artistic spirit within the very technology that so shapes the world around us at lightening speeds.
Wojtek Fus is a shining example of this breed. He is able take advantage of the various techniques and wide variety of styles the medium affords him. The end result can have the effect of traditional paint and light, or gleam with the neon beat of an ultra modern futuristic city.
Artists like Wojtek should be applauded for taking art in new directions, incorporating effects and styles the creative world has never seen before and producing works of beauty that fall into a classification all their own.
