Fact: An axolotl is a neotonic mole salamander. It’s also kind of cute.
Part of the Yellow Swans “Jyrk” collective, Axolotl’s Karl Bauer crafts exploratory, dreamlike psychological soundscapes. Some sound like the inner workings of the mind of a child: innocent, but ready to soak up any and all information. Others sound like a minor demon scratching at the mind’s membrane. More welcoming than most orchestrated noise, “Memory Theatre” compiles tracks from the “Chemical Theatre” 12-inch (Gypsy Theatre), the “Oranur” CD-R (Jyrk) and the “Object Phantom” CD-R (Spirit of Orr).
